The life of a film star is considered to be hectic. One film is finished and another one is about to be released in the cinema because the cliché prevails that an artist has to be in as many films as possible in order to win many prestigious awards as an actor. Yet Daniel Day-Lewis, one of the most selective actors in the film industry, refutes this assumption.

Although he has starred in only six films since 1998 with a role difference of up to five years, he is the only male actor in history to have won three awards in the leading actor category and one of only three male actors to win three Oscars. He has also won four BAFTA awards for Best Actor, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards.
