Marco Rubio, born on May 28, 1971, is an American politician, lawyer, and junior senator of the United States of America from Florida. Marco is a Cuban-American from Miami and the Republican candidate for the 2016 presidential elections and served as the speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.

He graduated high school in 1989 and attended Tarkio College on a soccer scholarship from 1989 to 1990 before enrolling at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. Marco graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida in 1993 and with a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1996. He retired from the presidential campaign in March 2016 after losing the Florida primary to Donald Trump.

After he was in the spotlight, details from his personal life have become of interest. Here is what you need to know about his wife, family, children, and gay status.

Is Marco Rubio Married?

Senator Marco has been married to his wife, Jeanette Christina Dousdebes, since 1998. The duo met at a neighborhood party when she was 17 years old and Marco was 19 and in college.

After seven years of dating, Marco proposed to her on Valentine’s Day 1997 at the top of the Empire State Building. Imagine the height he reached, to begin with, no wonder they still climb heights together as a family. They were married in October 1998 at the Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables, Florida.

Marco Rubio Wife

Jeanette Christina Dousdebes was born in Florida on December 5, 1973, the daughter of Colombian immigrant parents who later divorced when she was only six years old. This is probably the reason why she does everything she can to have the best marriage.

She attended South Miami High School, her husband’s alma mater, and Miami Dade College. Before her marriage, she worked as a bank teller and in 1997 she was a member of the Miami Dolphin Cheerleader at the request of her sister (who was already a member). She didn’t seem to like it, as she left the organization after only one year.

She enrolled in a course in fashion design at the International Fine Arts College but changed her priority to building her house and raising her children after she became pregnant and went back a year later with only one semester left.

Jeanette, who prefers to lead a regular and predictable family life, admits to being shy and not wanting to be in the media, but her husband’s political ambition and career brought her out. Nonetheless, she has been his ever-supportive wife, always there for her children. Her husband called her his pride tester and runs to her for advice.

Although she expressed that marriage to a politician and the mother of four children is more like a single mother, she has never failed to remind her husband of his duty, even if it means commuting back and forth between Miami and the capital of Tallahassee State to be with him during his time in the legislature.

What Does Jeanette Christina Do? Politics?

Outside of the family, she volunteers for an organization called Kristi’s House that takes care of young people who have been abused or involved in human trafficking in the Miami area. She works for Norman Braman, a Miami-based billionaire car dealer who has long supported Mr. Rubio’s career with advice, financial support, and campaign contributions.

Jeanette is also very religious, she holds a weekly Bible study at her home and reportedly takes her family regularly to two religious places of worship: a Catholic church and the Baptist mega-church Christ Fellowship.

She tolerated politics, but never enjoyed it, and yet she has found a way to use her husband’s position to bring to light some of the causes that are most important to her. For example, when she learned about the sex trade with teenagers in Florida, she urged her husband to raise the issue in the Senate and he supported legislation to protect victims.

Marco Rubio Children

Marco and Jeanette’s marriage produced four active children: two daughters, Amanda and Danielle, and two sons, Dominick and Anthony. They live in West Miami, Florida, with their parents, close to their families, and a large number of cousins.

Amanda, the oldest child, took after her mother and is a competitive stunt leader. While Amanda is an avid horsewoman and competes in Florida, her brothers play soccer. Marco, who enjoys spending time with his children, coaches his sons who played in high school and has a dream of becoming an NFL player.

Family, Parents

Marco’s parents, Mario and Oriales Rubio are Cuban immigrants who came to the USA in 1956 to improve their lives, three years before Fidel Castro came to power. His parents applied for US citizenship and were naturalized in 1975, four years after his birth.

The family then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where his father worked as a bartender at Sam’s Town Hotel and his mother as a housekeeper at the Imperial Palace Hotel.

Later, his father also worked as a crossing guard and his mother as a warehouse manager at Kmart. He has three siblings, Mario, Barbara, and Veronica. His father died of lung cancer in 2010 after 61 years of marriage with his wife. He described his father as a great force and the reason for his presidential aspirations.

Is Marco Rubio Gay? Affair

Marco is a practicing Catholic and of course, married, so he is certainly not gay. He rejects same-sex marriage and has therefore been challenged several times. During his presidential election campaign, he had an exchange with a gay man and confirmed his position on same-sex marriage. He believes that marriage is an important cornerstone of society and that it depends on how it is carried out. He respects other people’s views on what and how marriage should be and strongly believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Marco is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his family at every available opportunity. So far, there are no rumors of an affair.

Height and Net Worth

There is a general opinion that similar to a basketball game, the larger candidate has the advantage when it comes to becoming president, so one has to ask oneself whether there is a connection between size and power.

During his presidential race, his height became a topic for discussion and review. His height is 5’10” (1.75 m) though there are rumors that he’s closer to 5’8″. He would have been the second shortest US president since William McKinley, who stood at 5’7.

His net worth was described as negative in 2012, and it was reported that he made many bad decisions. There has also been speculation that growing up in a poor home may have contributed to his fluctuating net worth. However, he has an estimated net worth of over $200,000, consisting mainly of his salary, book royalties, and a teaching position.
