Jae Crowder may not be on the list of the top five NBA players among basketball enthusiasts, but that doesn’t change his talent, since his good all-around play and his ability to take any position on the court make him every coach’s dream player. Read on to learn more about his path to the NBA and his personal life.

Jae Crowder Early Life and Career

Corey Jae Crowder was born on July 6, 1990, in Villa Rica, Georgia. Due to his athletic abilities and the presence of a father who played professional sports, Crowder was strongly involved in sports from an early age. As a student at Villa Rica High School, Crowder played both as starting quarterback and starting point guard on the school’s soccer and basketball teams.

After graduating high school, Crowder was offered scholarships to play soccer in college, but he wanted to concentrate on playing basketball. He then enrolled at South Georgia Technical College, where he played for only one season before transferring to Howard College. In his first year at South Georgia Tech, Crowder was named Georgia Junior College Athletic Association Player of the Year after his school entered an NJCAA tournament for the first time.

He carried his good form to Howard, where he averaged 18.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game to be named Junior College Player of the Year after leading the school to the NJCAA Men’s Division I title for the first time ever.

Jae Crowder found himself on the move again after his second year when he transferred to Marquette University. In his first year at Marquette University, he averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. The following year, which was his last college basketball season, Crowder averaged 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, after which he was named Big East Player of the Year and was selected for AP Second-Team All American.

Jae Crowder’s next step was to participate in the 2012 NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 34th overall selection. That same night, however, Crowder switched to the Dallas Mavericks, with whom he signed a two-year contract. He ended up spending two and a half seasons in Dallas before joining the Boston Celtics in December 2014. In Boston, he was in good shape, which led to the team rewarding him with a five-year contract worth $35 million. In 2017, however, he was sold to the Cavs, who sold him again to Utah Jazz a few months later in February 2018.

Jae Crowder Family – Mother, Brother

Jae Crowder was born the son of Helen Thompson and Corey Crowder, a former professional basketball player who played in Europe for most of his career, although he also played for two NBA teams: the Utah Jazz and the San Antonio Spurs. Of his parents, Crowder has seven siblings.

In August 2017 he announced the passing away of his mother after a long fight with cancer. He said his mother passed away only five minutes after he told her that he had been surprisingly sold by the Celts to the Cavaliers.

Does he have a Wife or Girlfriend?

Jae Crowder is not married but has a long-term relationship with Dana Lambert, the mother of his daughter Jada. Lambert co-founded the Backboard Baby blog, which attracts mothers from around the world to share their individual stories and experiences in raising children. She is also popularly known as the ex-girlfriend of former NBA MVP Derrick Rose. The two were supposedly together in high school and in the early stages of his career before they separated.

It is not clear whether Crowder and Lambert are still together after both parties hit the headlines in September 2018 after a series of social media posts accusing each other of fraud. Crowder started the episode by first challenging Lambert with a post that said she was sneaking around with his colleague, Philadelphia 76ers striker Robert Covington. Dana Lambert fired back immediately, airing some of Crowder’s dirty laundry when she threatened to reveal more, which she believed would implicate his married teammates.

It’s not the first time the couple has brought their issues to social media. In 2015, Lambert accessed Crowder’s Instagram account and published the picture of a woman he allegedly cheated on her with. This step led Crowder to delete that particular account.
