Luke Shaw’s Bio, Age
Although commonly referred to as Luke Shaw, the defender for Manchester United and England was born on July 12, 1995, in Kingston on the Thames in the United Kingdom as Luke Paul Hoare Shaw. His family was an average (middle class) family and consisted of his parents – Paul and Joanna Shaw – and his two siblings. His parents had three children, of whom he was the oldest. Luke Shaw has a younger brother, Ben, and a sister, Nicole Shaw.
Shaw’s passion for football began at a young age, growing up in Surrey and watching the legend of Chelsea FC, Gianfranco Zola, make him fall in love with the London-based football club, which led him to one day play for the team. This prompted him to apply to the club, as he was keen to be accepted into their development program for young (football) talent. His application was granted and he was accepted into the development center, but he never quite made it to Chelsea Academy.
In addition, Shaw began his education at Rydens Enterprise School in Hersham, but moved to Molesey Juniors to prepare and receive an education that would enable him to survive in the major football academies. And then FC Southampton joined in 2003.
After Luke Shaw joined Southampton Academy, his passion for the game led him to work hard, and soon established himself as a regular member of the Southampton U-18 youth team. After eight years at the Academy, he was given a place on the first team in September 2011 at the age of 16. The club, which was in the championship at the time, received offers for the talented left defender from top Premier League teams such as Manchester City, Arsenal, etc., but decided to keep the then 16-year-old.
The next season, in 2012, Southampton moved up into the Premier League and Luke Shaw (alongside James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers, and Jack Stephens) agreed his first professional football contract with the club. And when he made his first league start in November of the same year with a draw against Swansea, he was the youngest player from Southampton to play a league match for the team. He ended the season with 28 appearances for the club.
In 2013 he was awarded a five-year contract when the left-back turned 18. His performance that season earned him the left defender’s place in the PFA Team of the Year, while on a personal level he was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, which was later awarded to Eden Hazard of Chelsea. By the transfer window in the summer, he signed a four-year contract with Premier League giant Manchester United after they paid over £30 million for his services. The contract made him the most expensive teenager in world football, and he played with Premier League icons such as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Robin Van Persie, to name but a few.
Luke Shaw was caught in a UEFA Champions League group match against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015 by Héctor Moreno in a sliding tackle and suffered a terrible injury at the end of the season. He would play his next competitive match next season in the FA Community Shield victory over surprise league champions Leicester City in August 2016. Against the same opponents, Shaw scored his first senior goal for Manchester United in the 2018-19 EPL season.
National Team Career
Lule Shaw represented his national team – England – through the youth squad from the U-16, which he debuted in 2011 in a match against Slovenia. He also lined up for the U-17 national team and made his debut against Italy. In 2013 he was appointed to the team by the then coach of the English U-21 team, Stuart Pearce, and took part in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The following year, Shaw was appointed to the senior national team and was also part of the 23-member English team that made it to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. And with his participation in England’s final group match against Costa Rica, Shaw set a record for being the youngest player at this World Cup Mundial.
Salary and Net Worth
The former left-back from Southampton is currently under contract with Manchester United and earns a weekly wage of £70,000, bringing his annual salary to just over £3.5 million. His net worth has been estimated at £44.5 million according to TheRichest.com and several other websites. His income comes primarily from his soccer career and also from his sponsorship contracts with some well-known sports brands such as Nike, Adidas, etc.
In 2016, Shaw put his Cheshire mansion up for sale worth over £2.6 million. He is also a lover of luxury rides and has a fairly small collection including an Audi, Range, and Chevrolet.
Is Luke Shaw Gay or Does He Have A Girlfriend?
Sometime in 2015, rumors began to circulate that Luke Shaw was a gay soccer player and that he was one of the two soccer players in the English Premier League (EPL) who would turn out to be gay. However, the English left-back reacted to the rumors by closing the game with the words “That’s not me, so now everyone can shut up.
Although the reason why he was targeted by the Trolls in this context is still unfathomable, as he has always been in relationships with the opposite sex. His first known relationship was with Shelby Billingham, and when they ended the relationship, he started dating Anouska Santos. The couple is not yet married, and although there are no exact details about their affair, they seem to be happy together, and we can only hope that the wedding bells will ring soon.
Other Facts – Height, Weight
Luke Shaw weighs 75 kg (170 lbs) and is 6 feet 1 inch or (1.85 m) tall.
He was born on July 12th, the day on which, by the way, some other celebrities were born as well. These include celebrities such as American actor and comedian Bill Cosby, Colombian soccer star James Rodriguez, WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and so on.
His younger brother Ben Shaw had a fight with Jose Mourinho (who is his older brother, Luke Shaw’s coach at Manchester United) because he had excluded his older brother from the 18-man team for the game against Chelsea 2016 when the latter was fully operational. However, United lost that match 4-0 to Chelsea.
Luke Shaw’s decision for the most feared opponent is quite alarming. After playing against players like Wilfried Zaha, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard, Willian, Mohammed Salah, he says that the opponent he is afraid of is Nigeria and Chelsea’s winger Victor Moses.
