Born on December 24, 1992, in Redwood City, California, to parents Pamela Brown and Douglas Adams. Adams has two sisters and one brother. His full birth name is Davante Lavell Adams. East Alto was Davante’s home from where he attended Palo Alto High School. He played for the Vikings (the school’s soccer team) and eventually led them to a CIF State Championship, which had impressive statistics – 64 receptions over 1,094 yards and 12 touchdowns and 44 tackles with two defeats, two forced fumbles, one interception and four defended passes. When it was time for college, he was offered the options of San Diego State, California, and Hawaii.
Adams finally chose California State University, where he played for the Fresno State Bulldogs soccer team between 2011 and 2013. He made his college football debut in 2012 with a win over Weber State on September 1, 2012, and scored 118 courts with two touchdowns on his debut. When he played against San Diego State on September 29, a team he could have played for, he recorded 8 receptions for 102 yards in a home win.
By the end of the 2012 season, Adams had recorded 102 receptions for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was also named MVP for the 2012 Hawaiian Bowl. By the 2013 season, Adams had initially recorded 14 receptions for a total of 148 yards and two touchdowns for a victory over Rutgers. When he competed again against San Diego, he recorded 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns. In his last college game at the 2013 Las Vegas Bowl against Southern California, Adams scored one touchdown, nine 74-yard receptions, and two touchdowns.
By the end of the 2013 season, Davante Adams had scored 131 receptions for 1,719 yards and 24 touchdowns, a national record. His 24 touchdown receptions were a Mountain West conference record, beating the record set by the next highest by eight. On December 27, 2013, he announced his decision to give up his last two years of college football and join the 2014 NFL Draft on December 27, 2013.
He was selected by the Green Bay Packers as the 53rd overall candidate and signed a contract on June 12, 2014. He made his debut in 2015 against the Seattle Seahawks but would score his first NFL touchdown with a 42-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. In a defeat to the Detroit Lions, he had a season-high 10 for 79 yards. He was the second-best receiver of the Packers with 997 yards at 75 catches and scored 12 touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown in the championship loss to the Atlanta Falcons. In the 2017 season, Adams suffered several health-related interruptions.
Adams has a partner – Devanne Villarreal, whom he met during their visit to California State University in Fresno. They had stayed together since they met, and then Adams decided it was time to set the tone in 2017.
