There are many who spend their whole life trying to become famous and then die in the darkness, and there are those who, without even trying, find themselves as stars in the sky. In the second grade, you will find Colton Dixon. He is a Christian singer and songwriter who first caught the eye of many when he was forced to sing by American Idol judges after accompanying his sister. Since then he has become a very strong voice in the gospel music scene.
Colton Dixon Bio (Age)
It was on October 19, 1991, when the singer was born as Michael Colton Dixon in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He grew up here in a middle-class family at his sister’s side, who is also good with music.
Raised in a devout Christian family, Colton has sung in church since childhood as a member who sang in Saddleback Church. For his education, Dixon went to Middle Tennessee School, which he graduated from in 2009. Although he appeared as an extra in “Hannah Montana: The Movie”, his vocation seems to lie primarily in music rather than acting.
He has one of the most interesting stories from “American Idol”. The first time he appeared on “American Idol” was in season 10 and he attended the show alongside his sister Schyler Dixon who urged him to audition as well. Both passed the audition but unfortunately dropped out early before it went too far.
Of course, this could have meant the end of the road for them, but it wasn’t Schyler who decided to audition for the 11th. This time she was the only one who went to the audition, but her brother accompanied her. When she came to the audition, the judges found out that she came with Colton, and they invited him in. After much persuasion, he auditioned too, and for the second time, the siblings made it.
Unfortunately, Schyler did not make it past the Las Vegas round, while to the biggest surprise of many Colton Dixon, who never made it into the top 3, dropped out and finished his run for American Idol.
Even before his retirement, Dixon had already become a household name to many, and this gave him a good starting point for his career. He was invited to many events. In 2012, the Christian Broadcasting Network made him their guest at the correspondents’ dinner at the White House.
In 2013, he released his first album “A Messenger”, which topped the weekly charts of the US Christian Albums, finishing the year at #9. His next album, Anchor, was released in 2014, while in 2015 he released another album, The Calm Before the Storm. His most recent album, Identity, was released in 2017. Of 4 nominations for the GMA Dove Awards, Colton Dixon received 2 awards for Best Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for A Messenger in 2013 and Anchor in 2015.
His Wife and Family
As mentioned above, Colton was raised by his parents, Michael Dixon, a postal worker, and Teresa Dixon in a Christian family. He has only one sister, Schyler Dixon.
In 2016, the gospel singer married Annie Coggeshall. Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the singer met the woman who would become his future wife in 2012 in Los Angeles. At that time he was rehearsing for the Idol tour. From then on, the two went out with each other and decided that they would only have sex after marriage.
In 2015 Colton, who was 23 years old at the time, proposed to Annie Coggeshall at Disney World in Florida and of course, she said yes. They finally made the covenant of life in January 2016 in Nashville at an event attended by 160 guests at the Scarritt Bennett Center with a performance by Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman.
After the wedding, American Idol Alum and Annie Coggeshall went on their honeymoon to Tahiti. The couple now lives in Nashville in a house renovated by the singer.
Height and Weight
With his blonde hair, which is now his trademark, Colton is a handsome man who is slim built and has a good height. He stands at a height of 1.83 m (6 feet 0 inches). His body weight is not intended for public viewing.
